Mazda Air Intake Sensor

The Mazda Air Intake Sensor Reference Matrix

Mazda’s consolidation around their high-efficiency SkyActiv powertrain architecture means that the vast majority of your late-model stock uses a single, highly interchangeable plug-in blade MAF sensor.

The Mazda Air Intake Sensor Reference Matrix

1. The SkyActiv “Slim-Blade” MAF Group (PE01-13-215 / PYFS-13-215)

It serves as a combined Mass Air Flow and Intake Air Temperature element across all naturally aspirated and turbocharged SkyActiv gas and diesel platforms.

Group A: The SkyActiv Crossover & SUV Base

These SUVs utilize identical intake volumes and terminal pin layouts.

  • CX-5: Spans KE and KF chassis profiles across 2.0L, 2.5L, and 2.2L SkyActiv-D variants.
  • CX-3 & CX-8: Share identical pin-voltage profiles with the main CX-5 fleet.

Group B: Global & JDM Passenger Mainstays

These models frequently share inter-compatible cross-references depending on whether they are badged for the domestic Japanese market (JDM) or global exports.

  • Atenza & Mazda 6: The GJ/GL sedan generations utilize the standard PE01 layout.
  • Axela & Mazda 3: Covers the BM/BP generations. Note: The specialized 2.5L Turbo variants use an updated PYFS-13-215 tracking profile, but fit the same airbox slots.

2. The Classic MZR / Pre-SkyActiv Platform (ZL01-13-215 / ZLY1-13-215)

Before the SkyActiv engine family, Mazda utilized a boxier insert sensor assembly across its MZR inline-4 and early i-VTEC-era competitors.

  • Demio : Primarily covers the DY and DE chassis generations (1.3L/1.5L ZY-VE engines) before shifting to SkyActiv technology.
  • Premacy: Covers the multi-purpose CP and early CR chassis variants.
  • Biante: The CC-chassis JDM minivan family.
  • Verisa & Familia: Classic subcompact and sedan lines built on vintage block platforms.

3. Commercial & Van Speciality Group

These applications require heavy-duty filtration configurations tailored for hard commercial work cycles.

  • Bongo: SK and SL series vans. Depending on whether they run the commercial F-series petrol engine or the rugged RF-CDT turbo-diesel, these units rely on dedicated speciality heavy-cast MAF housings rather than the delicate passenger car blades.

Suzuki relies heavily on its K-Series (naturally aspirated & Boosterjet turbo) petrol engines, its legacy M-Series/J-Series platforms, and select badge-engineered cross-references.
